Today was my first visit to Takara and I was immediately blown away by not only the quality of service but the decor and selection of items as well. The owner, Cookie, and her husband are incredibly friendly folk. Both folk were informative on all they have to offer. Amongst what they offer is a very affordable membership to rent and read within the business the large selection of Manga that is only continuing to grow! You have a selection of two different rooms you can lounge in to read, snack, and socialize. • Western style with enough chairs for your whole group. As well as a small table and white board that Cookie uses to teach Japanese! I've yet to take any language classes but plan to in the future! • Japanese style with a GENUINE Tatami platform, 2 chairs, a table (with a hole underneath for those not able to or not used to sitting cross legged on the floor), and plenty of throw pillows. You can purchase snacks, read manga, and hangout. A perfect place to visit if you need an escape from daily life or just somewhere to focus while you get some homework done. Their stock changes from time to time depending on availability of items that are imported. If omething you want isn't in you can put in a request to have it brought in! I highly recommend visiting Takara! *Tomorrow (April 6th, 2024) is their store anniversary! If you can drop in and say hi!

Kaoru (aka Cookie) is the sweetest lady every. Her shop provides a wide variety of imported goodies from over seas. The environment is electrifying as soon as you walk in the door. She showcases local artists all over the walls, which are for sale. She even provides Japanese classes every week. All around amazing place to be.

Needed to update this review. Went to Takara a couple days ago to get their new dumplings and while there asked the owner what she would recommend with them. I was drawn more towards udon noodles and asked how she would prepare them. She showed me what products she would use and explained in detail on how to cook them, and even offered to facetime with me if I needed help when actually cooking. I took her advise and made the food how she recommended and it came out terrific. Will definitely return in future.

Coolest Japanese store around! It's kind of hard to explain what the place is without seeing it for yourself. Snacks, meals, cold drinks, cool people and a whole wall of manga library. I hear Cookie, the owner, has lots more ideas for the place including Japanese language learning courses!

A beautiful store with a beautiful owner. It is obvious from the moment you step into the store that it's well cared for and loved. The owner cares about her customers, often caring a conversation with one, and she remembers those who stop by more than once. Definitely recommend stopping in and trying the snacks and looking at her library!
